This work is from the artists‘s series ‘Toy stories’ which utilises objects, notions, traits and memories typically associated with childhood to explore ideas of adulthood, learned culture and human behaviour. The ‘pink rabbit’ holds a daisy, a symbol of affection. The daisy is, in fact a composite of two flowers, one: a disc floret at the center and the outer petals (ray floret). Because they blend so well together they are considered a symbol of true love. The puzzle cube and skull alude to the complexities and frailties of life.

Rabbit, flower, cube, skull was part of the artistic preparatory work for the larger work Dark rabbit which explores notions of individuality; our desire to be different and the advantages and impotence of being part of the collective.
