Work inspired by la vida mediterráneo and the serene cove of Port Lligat that lies adjacent to Cadaqués (on the Cap de Creus peninsula), Costa Brava, España and the famous Surrealist painter that lived there. The bay is so named as there are two entries created by two small islands forming a geographical knot (ligature).

Artist’s notes
It’s not what you see…but what you don’t see. In this work (unseen by the viewer) the androgynous figure gazes upon the whitewashed houses of the fishermen. A labyrinth of three cottages that were organically joined by Salvador Dalí and Gala during the many years that they lived there, together. The grey stoney beach is not favoured by sun worshippers, but the calm, cool waters attract the serious sea swimmer, often attired in neoprene and swim hat, trailing brightly coloured buoys (secured to their ankle) to exercise and meditate in this tranquil cove.
This work was created for the ARTMED exhibition in Barcelona (an exhibition organised over 3 city venues) during the staging of the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup. The exhibition ARTMED supports the BLUEWAVE ALLIANCE a non-profit initiative (powered by ISDIN) that promotes projects aimed at regenerating the Mediterranean Sea. https://www.bluewavealliance.org
