The work’s title is a simple anagram of the word ‘hybrid’ that plays to this organic-mechanical fusion The sculpture is also a homage to Sir Frank Whittle, (1907 UK—1996 U.S. ) the English aviation engineer and pilot who invented the jet engine.
The first practical test of the jet engine took place on April 12, 1937 at Whittle’s test site and works based in Lutterworth, England where JJ Walker worked as a graphic designer for a time and where he was inspired by this aviation visionary.
