Preparation/idea creation and refinement for a work can take many forms. Freehand pen drawing without reference or model. Exploring exaggerated human volumes while looking to maintain a harmonious and balance beauty in the line drawn figure. Rapid representation. One of many 10 minute preparatory drawings for the Blue boy oil painting. This being the only preparatory sketch that was retained for the final project. Drawn with the background buzz of patrons, smell of coffee and a well oiled ink pen and pad in one of Walker’s favourite Barcelona cafes.
