A mature man encircled. He supports a fantasy animal inflatable which, in turn, we suspect is to support him as he takes to some imminent watery surroundings. Here the rubber ring is a symbol of support, of childhood need, of learning, adventure, fantasy and fun. We all need support at various stages of our lives…don’t we?

A work of whimsy with a profound intent. A look at life from one end to the other in a single snap shot. As we progress in one way we regress in another.

The figures’s watery exploits are to be supported with a novelty air-filled plastic sack. Likely inflated using another air-filled asset (the lungs).

Artist’s notes
Anchor man at his most playful. A sculpture of commanding size designed in a strictly limited edition, ideal to compliment a swimming pool or water feature environment. All the original metaphors remain for this mischievous, yet serious work with an additional twist of relevance possible by being thoughtful with its citing.

The inflatable: an air filled sack—are we not essentially an air filled sack?
Bellows simply opening and closing over a short span of time?
When there is no continuous, rhythmic inhalation and exhalation—
no filling of the lungs with fresh air, we are done.

“We must breathe and learn for as long as we can.”
